Optic Disc Pit Maculopathy
Optic disc pit:
Usually inferotemporal.
Often asymptomatic.
Symptomatic if causes macular schisis, LMH or macular detachment.
Incidence: 1 in 11,000.
Most cases bilateral.
Optic disc pit maculopathy:
Investigation – OCT and FFA.
RD related cases – 50% resolve ; 50% worsen.
Treatment choices:
1. Observation
2. Steroids
3. Laser photocoagulation of peripapillary temporal (2-3 rows of laser spots)
4. PPV +/- endolaser of optic disc pit margin + ILM peel and flap into pit + gas tamponade.
